It's time to start growing!
Students at Gentry Primary, Intermediate, and Middle School are invited to participate in our Sunflower Growing Competition this fall, sponsored by the Agriculture Education students and teachers.
🌱 Pick up your sunflower seeds now from your school's campus office (Monday-Thursday).
To give your sunflower the best chance to grow tall and strong:
✅ Plant your seeds this week if possible
✅ Start them in a cup and transplant later, or plant directly in the ground
✅ Water regularly
✅ Fertilize as needed
✅ Provide support if strong winds arrive
🏆 This fall, we'll have a designated day for students to bring their sunflowers to school and compete against their classmates to see whose sunflower grew the biggest and best!
Who will grow the tallest sunflower in Gentry Public Schools? The competition starts now!

Dozens of our youngest Pioneers participated in the first day of the Gentry Pioneer Youth Basketball Camp today. Hosted by the Gentry Basketball Boosters, boys and girls in grades K-3 took part in the morning session, while students in grades 4-6 are gearing up for an afternoon full of basketball fun (it's not too late to come join us!).
Campers worked on fundamental skills, participated in drills, built confidence, and had plenty of fun along the way. Beyond learning the game, camp provides a great opportunity for students to stay active, make new friends, and continue developing their love for basketball during the summer months.
A big thank you to our coaches, players, volunteers, and Basketball Boosters for investing in the next generation of Pioneer athletes!

📣 Due to the overwhelming interest and positive feedback we have received from families, we fully anticipate that a waitlist may be established. Families are encouraged to complete the enrollment request as soon as possible.

If you have questions, please contact Dr. Devon Conrad at dconrad@gentrypioneers.com.
📞 Please do not post questions in the comments. The staff members who typically manage social media posts may not have immediate access to all Pre-K program information. Contacting Dr. Conrad directly will help ensure your questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.

Zachary and his wife, a fellow educator, both graduated from the University of the Ozarks in 2016 and are completing their Master’s degrees in Excellence in Teaching from Harding University this June. Together with their five-year-old daughter—who starts first grade this fall—their family shares a love for animals, sharing their home with two dogs, two cats, and an aquarium of fish.
An avid outdoorsman, Zachary enjoys hiking, running, and traveling. He is currently on a mission to visit all 50 states before turning 50, with just 20 states left to check off his list.
Coming from the largest school district in the state, Zachary is thrilled to transition to a more personal, student-centered environment and looks forward to joining the Pioneer family.

According to her, Holyn was drawn to Gentry because of the district's strong reputation, growth, and deep commitment to student success. She is passionate about using art to help students express themselves and try new things, and she loves hosting events that showcase student artwork for families and the community. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cheering on her students at local youth sports and programs, reading, quilting, and spending time outdoors.
Holyn, along with her husband and son, is thrilled to relocate to the area and officially join the Pioneer family.

We are proud to recognize Amy Gil as our District Teacher of the Year and Angie Newsom as our District Classified Staff Member of the Year! Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the students and staff of Gentry Public Schools make a lasting difference each day.
We are incredibly thankful for the passion, care, and professionalism they bring to our district, and we appreciate the positive impact they have on our school community. Miss Gil and Mrs. Newsom will be formally recognized during our Back-to-School Professional Development in August.
Please join us in congratulating these outstanding employees on this well-deserved honor!

During the excitement of the ceremony, Ty’s name was unintentionally missed during the recognition portion of the program, and we want to take a moment to celebrate him here. We are proud of Ty and all he has accomplished at GMS, and we know he has a bright future ahead.
Congratulations, Ty, on your promotion to high school! We are cheering you on and wish you the very best in this next chapter.

While this will be his first full-time professional role, Peyton brings valuable hands-on experience to the position. He completed his teaching internship at Russellville Junior High School and has served as both a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs—where he taught freshman orientation classes—and as an Assistant Offensive Line Graduate Assistant for the Arkansas Tech football team.
Originally from Springdale, Arkansas, Peyton grew up in a hardworking family alongside his parents, Shane and Kesha Wilson, and his younger brother, Remington. Outside of his professional life, he is an active community volunteer through his church and outreach programs. In his free time, he enjoys working out, hunting, fishing, playing sports, reading, hiking, and spending quality time with his family.
Peyton is excited to join Gentry Public Schools, a community that deeply values student growth. As a teacher and football coach, he looks forward to building strong relationships, supporting students in the classroom, and helping athletes develop into disciplined, hardworking individuals.
