School Calendar Overview

The district calendar is an important document that outlines the official start and end dates of the school year, holiday breaks, professional development days, and other key dates for staff and students. In Arkansas, state law requires public schools to operate for a minimum number of instructional days and hours each year. Our district follows a traditional calendar, which aligns with these state requirements and reflects the needs and preferences of our community.

The calendar is developed collaboratively by the district's Personnel Policy Committee and is ultimately approved by the Board of Education. While it is often used by families to plan around the school year, it is technically a personnel document that governs staff work schedules.

Please note: the FAQ is for general guidance only. In the case of any discrepancies, the district calendar is the official and governing document.
