Celebrating an Incredible Team and Their Historic Accomplishments
The 6th-Grade GYO Football Team was recongnized at tonight’s board meeting. Below are comments from Coach Randy Dozier:
"This group of kids is truly something special. They’ve made history as the first team in GYO Youth Football to win back-to-back league championships! Over the past two seasons, this team has achieved an impressive 14-2 record.
Before this season’s playoffs began, I shared with the parents how much I’ve genuinely enjoyed coaching this group. Many of these kids have been with me since kindergarten, and watching them grow as players—and as individuals—has been an incredible experience. What makes this team so unique is the unity they share. They’ve grown from being just teammates to becoming a family.
This success would not have been possible without the incredible support system behind them. The parents have been as much a part of this journey as the players, and their dedication has been invaluable. Our coaching staff has also been phenomenal:
• Coach Orlando Lopez (Defense)
• Coach Blake Godin (Offense)
• Coach Austin Parker and Coach Thomas Helt (Offensive and Defensive Lines)
Additionally, I’m grateful for the unwavering support from the school and community. Thank you to Coach Hester for providing access to the fantastic facilities we’ve used, and to Coach Clark and Coach Watson for their input and encouragement—and for cheering us on every week. Finally, a big thank you to the school board for recognizing and supporting this team’s achievements.
This journey has been an incredible team effort, and I couldn’t be prouder of what this group has accomplished together. Here’s to more great seasons ahead!"
We are proud of all the GYO teams this year. There was a Gentry team in every grade-level semi-final.
