GENTRY, AR — Gentry Primary School students added a little color to their school day during the school's annual Color Run today, raising $9,000 to support students, teachers and school activities throughout the year. The event combines fun, fitness and a burst of color that has become a popular tradition in the school district.
One of the largest fundraisers organized by the Gentry Primary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), the Color Run has become a favorite school tradition, bringing students together for an outdoor course filled with movement, laughter and plenty of colorful memories.
As students make their way around the course, they are sprinkled with bursts of colorful, chalk-like powder, transforming an ordinary school day into an energetic celebration. The event gives students an opportunity to enjoy time with their classmates while supporting the school community.
But beneath all the color and excitement is an important purpose: Helping provide resources and experiences that benefit students and teachers long after the last colorful footprints have faded.
Andrea Folger, Gentry Primary School principal, said the Color Run demonstrates how families and volunteers can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
“It's wonderful to see our students having so much fun while knowing this event is making a difference for our school,” Folger said. “The money raised helps us support our students and teachers throughout the year, providing opportunities and experiences that make their time at Gentry Primary even more meaningful. We're grateful to our PTO, parent volunteers and families for continuing to support our Pioneers in such a fun and memorable way.”
The $9,000 raised this year will help the PTO support school needs, student activities and teacher initiatives throughout the school year. The fundraiser reflects the important role family and community involvement plays in creating enriching experiences for students.
Gentry Primary School extends its appreciation to the PTO, parent volunteers and everyone who helped organize and support this year's event. Their time, energy and generosity help make the Color Run possible year after year, Folger said.
It's a little messy, a lot of fun and a colorful reminder of what a school community can accomplish when it comes together for its students.
