GENTRY, AR — Gentry High School celebrated six senior members of the Lady Pioneers volleyball team during Senior Night Thursday, recognizing the players’ contributions to a season that has brought several historic milestones to the program.

Anna Xiong, Lexi Hughes, Peyton Insco, Delilah Chamra, Temperance Goodhue and Alyssa Montoya were honored for their commitment, leadership and dedication to Gentry volleyball. Together, the six seniors have helped shape a season that will be remembered as a turning point for the program.

Head Coach Hannah Hankins said she is especially proud of how the team has responded to adversity and continued to improve as the season has progressed.

“I can’t explain how proud I am of this group. They handle so much adversity and handle it well! Some teams would shut down or check out at the end of season, but this group keeps elevating! Gentry The Pioneers are getting hot, and I'm proud to be their coach,” Hankins said.

The Lady Pioneers have given the program plenty to celebrate this season, including the first 10-win season in program history and the best start the program has ever recorded. The junior varsity team also established a program record for wins in a season.

Individual accomplishments have added to the team’s success. Alli Jones earned a place among the top five in the Arkansas state record book for aces in a single match. Xiong has led the 4A Conference in digs, while Kylie Smith has ranked among the conference’s top two players in kills per set.

The historic season reflects the growth of Gentry volleyball and the determination of a team that has continued to raise its level of play despite challenges along the way.
