GENTRY, AR -- The Gentry Pioneers are preparing to tip off the 2026–27 varsity boys basketball season, with a full schedule of home games, conference matchups and tournament competition ahead.

Head coach Chip Collins, entering his second season leading the Pioneers, said the team is looking forward to getting on the court and building on the work that has gone into the offseason.

“We’re excited about this group and the work they’ve put in,” Collins said. “Our goal is to continue getting better every day, compete together and represent Gentry the right way. We want our community to come out, support these young men and be part of what we’re building.”

The basketball season will officially get underway with Pioneer Madness at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, giving the Gentry community an opportunity to meet the student-athletes participating in Pioneer Madness and get an early look at the basketball teams.

The Pioneers will then open their home schedule at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, against the School for Advanced Studies.

The first home conference game is set for 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, against Huntsville. The game will also feature GYO Jersey Night, providing another opportunity for Gentry students and families to come out and support the Pioneers.

The regular season includes tournament competition at Decatur, Lincoln and Colcord, as well as home games featuring Teacher Night, Coronation, Toy Toss and other special events.

“We want our home games to be something the whole community looks forward to,” Collins said. “There’s a lot of basketball ahead of us, and we’re excited to have our fans along for the ride.”

The Pioneers will close the regular season Feb. 12 at home against Pea Ridge before the Senior High District Tournament Feb. 16-19 and Senior High Regional Tournament Feb. 22-26.
