Gentry High School Announces “Pioneers Through the Years” Homecoming Theme

GENTRY, AR — Homecoming at Gentry High School will celebrate the traditions, memories and generations that have helped shape the Pioneer community as students prepare to celebrate “Pioneers Through the Years.”

Homecoming Week will begin Monday, Oct. 5, with a series of spirit days designed to take students on a trip through different eras and bring the Gentry community together.

The week’s schedule includes:

  • Monday, Oct. 5 — Mellow Monday: Hippie wear, tie-dye or pajamas

  • Tuesday, Oct. 6 — Army vs. Barbie: Wear camouflage or pink

  • Wednesday, Oct. 7 — Color Our World: Class colors

  • Thursday, Oct. 8 — Throwback Thursday: Dress in your favorite decade

  • Friday, Oct. 9 — Pioneer Spirit Through the Years: Maroon and white

The celebration will culminate Friday night when the Gentry Pioneers take on Green Forest at 7 p.m. at Gentry High School.

But Homecoming is about more than a football game. It is an opportunity for former Pioneers to come back to Gentry, reconnect with classmates and teachers, and experience the school spirit that has been part of the community for generations. With this year’s theme, current students are being encouraged to celebrate not only where Gentry is today, but also the people and traditions that came before them.

"Homecoming is one of those traditions that brings our entire school community together, and we hope our alumni feel invited and included to come back home and be a part of the fun," said Justin Blanchard, Gentry High School's principal. "Homecoming also gives our students a chance to celebrate who we are today while also recognizing the generations of Pioneers who helped make Gentry what it is. We hope our alumni will come home, see familiar faces and join us October 9."

The Pioneer spirit has been a part of Gentry High School for generations. Gentry High School traces its history to 1897, and the Pioneer identity continues to be represented through the school’s maroon-and-white colors and traditions.

This Homecoming, Gentry High School invites students, families, alumni and the entire community to be part of the celebration.

Come home. Wear maroon and white. And help us celebrate the Pioneers through the years.
