SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Students from Future Business Leaders of America at Gentry High School made school history last week at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio.
Sophomores Rachel Leonard, Caleigh Farrar, and Kayla Newsom represented Gentry High School in the Sales Presentation competition, competing against 120 teams from across the nation in their division. Their presentation earned them a spot among the Top 16 teams in the country, advancing to the national finals — a first in Gentry High School FBLA history.
While Gentry FBLA has a long tradition of students qualifying for and competing at the national level, this marks the first time a Gentry team has advanced to the national finals.
“This is a historic accomplishment for our program and our school,” said Joni Wilson, a teacher at Gentry High School and the FBLA sponsor. “Rachel, Caleigh, and Kayla represented Gentry with incredible poise on a national stage.”
Wilson said this accomplishment will build on future successes for the program and these students as they continue to build such an amazing tradition at the school.
