Field Day

GENTRY, AR — Gentry Intermediate School students recently took part in their annual Track & Field Day, an event that brought energy, excitement, and plenty of friendly competition to campus as students participated in a variety of races, relays, and team-based activities.

Gentry Intermediate School serves students in the intermediate grades within Gentry Public Schools and is focused on building a strong academic foundation while also emphasizing character development, teamwork, and student engagement. Events like Track & Field Day are an important extension of that mission, giving students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through movement, cooperation, and school spirit.

Throughout the day, students were encouraged not only to compete but also to support one another, demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork as they rotated through activities designed to promote physical fitness and collaboration.

Kristen Smart, the school's principal, noted that events centered around physical activity play an important role in student development. Regular movement and structured play help students build confidence, develop healthy habits, strengthen social skills, and form positive relationships with peers, all while creating memorable school experiences.

Smartt expressed appreciation for the staff and volunteers who helped make the event possible. Coaches, teachers, and high school student volunteers all contributed their time and effort to ensure a smooth and successful day for participants.

Their support, Smartt said, is a key part of what makes events like Track & Field Day successful each year at Gentry Intermediate School.
