GENTRY, AR — Gentry High School senior Samantha Hillis was recently recognized at the Arkansas Governor’s Scholastic Honors Day ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock, an honor reserved for some of the state’s top graduating seniors.

Hosted annually by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Education, Scholastic Honors Day celebrates outstanding academic achievement by high school seniors from across Arkansas. Schools are invited to nominate exceptional students who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to their studies.

Hillis represented Gentry High School at this year’s event and was personally honored by the governor during the statewide recognition ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.

As Gentry High School’s salutatorian, Hillis has earned recognition for her commitment to academic success and hard work throughout her high school career. School officials said her achievements reflect both perseverance and a strong dedication to excellence in the classroom

Hillis will also be recognized during Gentry High School’s graduation ceremony this Sunday as members of the Class of 2026 celebrate commencement.

The Governor’s Scholastic Honors Day ceremony is considered one of Arkansas’ premier academic recognition events for graduating seniors, highlighting students who have excelled academically and served as leaders within their schools and communities.
