GENTRY, AR -- Gentry High School has announced Loren Babcock as its 2026 Teacher of the Year, recognizing her dedication to students, leadership within the school, and commitment to the Gentry community.

Now in her fourth year at GHS, Babcock teaches Computer Science and Robotics while also taking on several leadership roles. She coordinates Community Service documentation for students and serves on the school’s Guiding Coalition, helping shape initiatives that support student success. A graduate of Gentry High School herself, Babcock brings both professional expertise and personal pride to her work on campus.

GHS Principal Justin Blanchard praised her wide-reaching impact.

“Her impact is felt all across our school,” Blanchard said. “It’s no surprise she has been selected by her peers to represent GHS as our Teacher of the Year.”

Colleagues describe Babcock as passionate, dependable, and deeply committed to the school and its students.

“Loren is very passionate about GHS and all the students we serve… She truly bleeds maroon,” one colleague shared.

Others highlighted her willingness to step up whenever needed and her positive presence on campus.

“She’s always the first to volunteer to fill a need and works hard to make GHS the best,” another teacher noted. “Her eagerness to help and be involved is refreshing—she is very deserving of this award.”

In addition to her leadership and work ethic, Babcock is known for her kindness and upbeat attitude.

“Loren is super kind and always has a smile on her face,” a colleague added.

Babcock will go on to represent Gentry High School in district-level recognition. School officials say they are proud to have her serve as a representative of both the campus and the teaching profession.

Her selection reflects not only her individual contributions, but also the strong sense of community and excellence that defines Gentry High School, Blanchard said.
