GENTRY, AR — Gentry High School Theatre will present the classic musical Guys and Dolls beginning Friday evening, with performances scheduled through Saturday in the high school auditorium.
Opening night is set for 6 p.m. Friday, with additional performances on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Set in 1950s New York City, Guys and Dolls follows gambler Nathan Detroit as he attempts to organize the biggest craps game in town while avoiding the scrutiny of his fiancée, Adelaide. At the same time, high-roller Sky Masterson enters into a bet that leads him to Sarah Brown, a mission worker, sparking an unexpected romance.
School officials say the production highlights the talent and dedication of Gentry students, both on stage and behind the scenes.
Theatre programs like this play an important role in education, helping students develop confidence, creativity, collaboration and communication skills that extend beyond the classroom.
The production is directed by Gentry High School theatre teacher Josh McBride.
Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door for each performance.
