GENTRY, AR — It’s been a fantastic week for Gentry High School athletics, with multiple Pioneer teams continuing great starts in conference play and building momentum heading deeper into the season.
The Lady Pioneers softball team remains unbeaten in conference competition, improving to 4-0 after a commanding two-game sweep of Green Forest. Gentry secured a 16-1 victory at home on Monday, followed by an 18-0 shutout on the road Tuesday. The offense was firing on all cylinders, with every player reaching base in Monday’s contest. Macie Holzkamper highlighted the week with her first home run of the season, while Holzkamper and Olivia Nations each recorded three RBIs. Iris Still and LynnleeTeague added two RBIs apiece. Gentry will face Huntsville in a make-up game Thursday before hosting the Eagles on Friday.
On the baseball diamond, the Pioneers matched that dominance with a sweep of Green Forest, outscoring the Tigers 23-1 across two games. Gentry opened with an 11-0 win at home Monday and followed with a 12-1 road victory Tuesday. Jaxson Holt led the offense in Game 2, going 3-for-4, while Cole Lacey drove in four runs. In Monday’s contest, Dylan Nash tallied four RBIs, and Kellen Davis delivered five scoreless innings on the mound. The Pioneers now turn their attention to a key conference series against Shiloh next week.
The girls soccer team continues its perfect run, improving to 3-0 in 4A West conference play and 6-0 overall after a 4-1 victory over Berryville. The Lady Pioneers will look to extend their unbeaten streak with upcoming matches against Prairie Grove and Green Forest.
Meanwhile, the boys soccer team, after opening conference play with two wins, suffered a narrow 1-0 loss on the road to Berryville. Despite the setback, the Pioneers remain in strong position, currently sitting second in the conference standings. They will aim to bounce back in upcoming matches against Prairie Grove and Green Forest.
With strong performances across softball, baseball, and soccer, as well as personal records being set in track and field, Gentry’s spring sports programs continue to showcase depth, talent, and momentum as the season progresses. Community support is expected to play a key role as the Pioneers head into another busy week of competition.
