LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Gentry Pioneer wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the Arkansas 4A State Wrestling Championships this past weekend in Little Rock, bringing home a state championship, a state runner-up finish, and multiple podium placements.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was Atreyu Banks, who captured the 4A State Championship at 175 pounds. Banks completed an undefeated season with a dominant run through the bracket, finishing on top of the podium and cementing his place as one of the premier wrestlers in the state. His performance throughout the tournament showcased skill, focus, and determination at the highest level.
In the heavyweight division, Aidan Eller earned a State Runner-Up finish. Eller battled through a competitive field to secure second place, demonstrating strength, resilience, and leadership throughout the tournament. His effort and consistency were instrumental in Gentry’s strong overall showing.
Adding to the Pioneers’ success, Ben Martin placed third in his division in his first year of wrestling. Martin’s podium finish at the state level marks an impressive debut season and reflects his dedication and rapid growth on the mat.
Aaron Ellis also brought home a fourth-place finish at 215 pounds. Competing in a challenging bracket, Ellis showed grit and perseverance throughout the weekend to secure his spot on the podium.
In addition to the individual honors, other members of the Gentry wrestling team competed strongly, contributing to a weekend that highlighted the depth and strength of the Pioneer program.
Overall, six Pioneer wrestlers qualified for the state championships, and with a State Champion, a State Runner-Up, and multiple podium finishers, the Gentry Pioneer wrestling team represented its school and community with pride, sportsmanship, and determination.
