GENTRY, AR -- As the new calendar year begins, Gentry Schools are providing families, students, and staff with an overview of important dates and events scheduled for 2026. The calendar includes academic milestones, school breaks, fine arts performances, and major celebrations to help the community plan ahead.
The spring semester will begin with a Professional Development Day for teachers and staff on January 5, with no school for students. Students will return to campus on January 6, marking the start of the second semester. Schools will be closed on January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unless the day is needed as a weather makeup day.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for February 19 from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m., with an early dismissal for students that day. A Professional Development Day will follow on February 20, again with no school for students unless weather makeup days are required.
Spring Break will take place March 23–27, giving students and staff a week off from classes. Several fine arts and other special events are planned throughout April, beginning with the Gentry High School Prom on April 11 at Enchanted Valley Farm. Band and choir students will participate in All Region Assessments during the week of April 13.
Gentry High School will present its spring musical, Guys and Dolls, with evening performances scheduled for April 16–18 at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. A Professional Development Day will be held on April 17, with no school for students unless the day is used for weather-related makeup.
Additional spring events include the GHS Choir Solo and Ensemble contests on April 18, the Third Grade Concert on April 20 at 8 a.m., the Middle School Spring Band Concert on April 21 at 6:30 p.m., and the High School Spring Band Concert on April 23 at 6:30 p.m.
The school year for seniors will conclude with Gentry High School Graduation on May 17 at 2 p.m., at John Brown University. The last day of school is scheduled for May 22, pending any additional weather makeup days. Schools will be closed on May 25 in observance of Memorial Day, with May 26–29 reserved for weather makeup days if needed.
