Gentry, AR — Dozens of students at Gentry Primary School will experience an extra-special Christmas this year thanks to a quiet act of generosity from school faculty and staff, along with support from a local church.

In the weeks leading up to the holiday, Gentry Primary staff worked behind the scenes to identify students who were not receiving assistance from other programs but whose families could benefit from a little extra help. After consulting with parents and caregivers, an anonymous group of donors — affectionately referred to as “elves” — stepped in to make the season brighter.

Those donors purchased hundreds of items, including toys, clothing, and essential needs, based on information shared by families. During the past several days, parents and caregivers discreetly picked up the gifts at the school, ensuring the surprises would remain hidden until Christmas morning.

Andrea Folger, principal of Gentry Primary School, said the effort reflects the heart of the school community.

“Our staff and community partners wanted to make sure every child felt joy and excitement on Christmas morning," Folger said. "We’re so grateful to the families who trusted us and to those who gave so generously without expecting any recognition.”

The gift-giving effort was intentionally kept low-profile to preserve the dignity of families and the magic of the season for students. School officials emphasized that the initiative was about meeting needs, strengthening community connections, and ensuring children feel supported.

Gentry Primary School expressed appreciation to the donors, the partnering church, and the families who participated, noting that the collaboration is a powerful example of community care in action.

As the holiday approaches, the school shared a simple message to families and the community: Merry Christmas from Gentry Primary School.
