GENTRY, AR — Gentry High School has been recognized among the Top 10% of schools in Arkansas for academic growth and will receive a $26,049.98 award from the Arkansas Department of Education.

The award is part of the Arkansas School Recognition Program, which honors public schools that demonstrate high student performance and exceptional academic growth. This recognition reflects the school’s continued improvement in student achievement, as measured by this year’s state standardized assessments compared to the previous year.

“Achievement is up. Growth is up. Good things are happening at Gentry High School,” said Principal Justin Blanchard. “Congratulations to our students, faculty, and staff for their commitment and dedication to learning and instruction.”

Superintendent Dr. Tyler Broyles said the recognition highlights the district’s commitment to continuous academic improvement and student success.

“This progress reflects Gentry’s strong commitment to academics,” Broyles said. “During the past year, the district placed a strong focus on improving student attendance and classroom learning — because consistent and constructive time in the classroom is key to growth. These results show that our commitment is paying off, and we are excited about the continued growth ahead.”

Earlier this semester, the Gentry Public School District announced Gentry High School earned a “B” rating in the Arkansas Department of Education’s latest accountability report — a significant improvement from 2023, when the school held a “C” rating.

“We are extremely proud of our students and staff -- and the leadership at Gentry High School,” Broyles added. “Their hard work and dedication continue to move our district forward. Mr. Blanchard is right -- great things are happening in Gentry.”
