Gentry, AR — Gentry Public Schools continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing students with valuable career exploration opportunities. Recently, a group of 20 students from Gentry High School attended Industry Day at the Don Tyson School of Innovation, an event designed to connect students with local businesses and industries.
The event featured representatives from a variety of prominent organizations, including BIT, Arkansas Elite Welding Academy, Crossland Construction, Emery Sapp & Sons, Kimbel Mechanical, Nabholz, NWTI, Tyson Foods, Walmart, and many more. Students engaged in hands-on activities, gaining firsthand experience while learning about potential career paths and job opportunities in their community.
Melissa Fullmer, College and Career Coach at Gentry High School, highlighted the importance of events like Industry Day. “Providing students with direct access to local businesses helps them explore real-world career options and develop skills that will prepare them for the future. It’s an invaluable experience that opens doors and inspires our students to envision their professional journeys,” Fullmer said.
Chaperoned by staff members Jeff Ellico, Loren Babcock, Janae Fairchild, and Fullmer herself, the group left the event energized and more informed about the opportunities available to them in the workforce.
Gentry Public Schools remains dedicated to fostering student growth beyond the classroom by connecting learners with industry leaders and practical experiences that help shape their futures, Fullmer said. For more information, check out gentrypioneers.com.
