GENTRY, AR – Students from Gentry High School earned high honors in both choir and band competitions this past weekend, showcasing the continued strength and growth of the district’s fine arts programs.

Nine choir students were selected for the Region 6 All-Region Choirs following competitive auditions on Saturday, surpassing many students from 7A schools in the region. Seven of those students advanced to the next level and will audition for the Arkansas All-State Choirs in February, competing against choir students from all sizes of schools throughout the state.

Meanwhile, The Pride of Gentry Marching Band earned an “Excellent” rating and placed third in their division at the Devil Dog Invitational in Morrilton, competing against schools from across the state.

Special recognition goes to the following students for their placement in the All-Region Choirs:

  • Lazaro Cardenas – 4th Chair, Bass 1

  • Kohaku Thao – 4th Chair, Bass 2

  • JR Kirk – 8th Chair, Bass 1
