GENTRY, AR – The Gentry FFA and Agricultural Education program had a remarkable week at the 2025 Benton County Fair, showcasing the hard work, dedication, and skills of our students across a wide variety of competitions and livestock shows.

FFA and 4-H students participated in numerous events ranging from animal husbandry and showmanship to judging contests and floral design. Their exceptional performance highlighted the strength of agricultural education in Gentry Public Schools and the dedication of our student competitors.

Livestock and Animal Show Results

Rabbit Show:

  • Lanie Newsom earned Grand Champion Dutch Rabbit, Reserve Champion Mini Lop, Reserve Champion Silver Fox, and was the Rabbit Showmanship Winner.

  • Brooklyn Gregory received Grand Champion Mini Lop.

Beef Show:

  • Bailey Malone: Reserve Champion Showmanship; 1st Place Brahma Bull

  • Reagan Rigney: Grand Champion Exotic Commercial Heifer; Overall Reserve Champion Commercial Heifer

  • Kylie Smith: 1st in Class Limousine; Grand Champion Limousine; 5th Overall Breeding Heifer

  • Paisley Amos: 1st Maine Anjou; Grand Champion Maine Anjou; 1st Maintainer; Grand Champion Maintainer; 3rd Overall Breeding Heifer

  • Olivia Scribner: 1st in Class and Grand Champion Red Angus

  • Ellie Scribner: 1st in Class; Reserve Champion Red Angus

  • Jesse Curran and Tate Simmons participated in the Pasture to Plate program. Tate earned 3rd in class and 1st place with his 1350# steer.

Market Hog:

  • Aubrey Dickinson: 1st in class; Grand Champion Heavy Weight; Grand Champion Overall Market Hog

  • Dax Dickinson: 4th in class

Market and Breeding Goats:

  • Dax Dickinson: 1st in class; Grand Champion Market Goat

  • Izzy Carnahan: 3rd in class Market Goat; 1st in class Breeding Goat

  • Lanie Newsom: 5th in class Breeding Goat

Sheep Show:

  • Bailey Malone: Senior Showmanship Winner; Super Senior Showmanship Winner; Winner of Class 8 and 9; Reserve Champion Market Lamb

  • Addison Robinson: 2nd in Market Lamb Classes 6 & 7; 4th in Commercial Ewe

Equine Competition:
Taryn Simmons had a standout performance in the horse events, winning first place in Western Pleasure, Ranch Pleasure, Barrels, Poles, and Speed. She also received Grand Champion in Barrel Racing and Ranch Pleasure.

Students also competed in various skill-based contests:

  • Taryn Simmons: 3rd Place, Junior Skill-a-thon

  • Tate Simmons: 5th Place, Senior Livestock Judging

  • Gabby Strickland: 3rd Place, Consumer Judging

  • Multiple students received awards for floral design entries

Benton County Pullet Project Success

This year marked a record for Gentry FFA, with 10 students participating in the Benton County Pullet Project. Seven students exhibited their hens, each earning First Place ribbons for the quality of their birds and care.

Top Results:

  • Owen Oaks: FFA Grand Champion and Overall Grand Champion

  • Tommy Holland: 1st Place FFA Showmanship, FFA Reserve Champion, Overall Reserve Champion

  • Lane Wood, Easton Smith, Wheeler Cable, Jesse Berner, and Jax Guinn also received First Place ribbons.

For the first time, the Benton County Fair is allowing the top two overall winners to sell in the premium livestock auction. Congratulations to Owen Oaks and Tommy Holland for earning this opportunity!
