GENTRY, AR – Gentry’s Pioneer spirit was on full display Thursday evening as families, alumni, and fans supported Gentry student athletes at Pioneer Stadium for the annual “Meet the Pioneers” community event. With cheers ringing out and hometown pride on display, the celebration honored Gentry’s student-athletes, coaches, and supporters ahead of the 2025 Fall sports seasons.
The evening kicked off with community members pouring in to enjoy a meal together and gear up for a full schedule of team introductions, performances, and scrimmages. From seventh grade to varsity, every student-athlete and coach received a warm welcome and enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
Gentry Athletics Director Brent Hester expressed his appreciation for the community’s turnout and support, saying, “Seeing the stands filled with familiar faces reminds us just how special this town is. Our student-athletes are working hard every day, and tonight was a chance to celebrate their commitment and the incredible support system behind them.”
Highlights from the Evening Included:
7th Grade and Junior High Teams: Volleyball, cheer, and football teams received spirited introductions, with junior high cheerleaders delivering a performance that set the tone for the night.
Junior High Football Scrimmage: Gave fans a preview of what’s to come this season, showcasing talent and teamwork on the rise.
High School Highlights: The crowd was treated to performances from the cheer squad and band, followed by introductions of the high school volleyball, cross country, band, cheer, and football teams.
Powerlifting Recognition: A special moment honored the achievements of Gentry’s powerlifters, reminding the crowd of the diverse athletic excellence within the district.
Varsity Football Scrimmage: The night capped off with a competitive and energetic look at the varsity squad, fueling excitement for the season ahead.
A Community Effort
The success of “Meet the Pioneers” reflects the strength of the Gentry community. Parents, school staff, sponsors, and volunteers all played a role in bringing the event to life — from organizing food service to coordinating logistics and cheering in the stands.
Whether it was a proud parent snapping photos, a coach rallying their team, or a former student reliving high school memories, the event served as a reminder of what makes Gentry special.
As the 2025 Fall season begins, the Pioneers are stepping onto the field with more than just summer practice behind them — they’re carrying the support of an entire town.
