Fort Smith, AR — Eight athletes from the Gentry High School Cheer program took a major step toward their future in collegiate athletics by attending the Arkansas College Cheer Combine held at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.

Participants included sophomore Ethan Meyers; juniors Kyah Manen, Dylan Eller, Eagan Harper, and Saylor Arnold; and seniors Tayla Woodcock, Alissa Nelson, and Emma Cox. These student-athletes joined cheerleaders from across the state to demonstrate both their cheerleading technique and overall athleticism in front of collegiate coaches.

During the event, athletes showcased a variety of cheerleading skills—including jumps, tumbling, and stunting—as well as core athletic competencies such as the 40-yard dash and 60-second push-up test. The combine attracted coaches from seven Arkansas collegiate cheer programs, all looking to identify potential recruits.

“This was a great opportunity for our cheerleaders who are interested in pursuing cheerleading at the collegiate level,” said Gentry Cheer Coach Kaylin Lynch. “Not only did they get to learn about different cheer programs, but they got the opportunity to showcase their talents with athletes from across the state. They represented both our school and cheer program with confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism.”

The Arkansas College Cheer Combine is designed to give high school cheerleaders exposure to college programs while also helping them understand the demands and expectations of collegiate cheer.

As the season gets underway, the Gentry Cheer program continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence both on the sidelines and in preparation for life beyond high school.
