Pre-K Information
We’re excited to launch Pre-K at Gentry Public Schools and appreciate the interest and support from our families and community. Below are some of the most common questions we’ve received so far. This list will continue to grow as we move forward and learn alongside you.
This is a brand-new program for our district and a big undertaking. Our goal is to build something strong that serves our community well and helps prepare our youngest learners for a successful transition into kindergarten. As with any new program, there may be some adjustments along the way, and we appreciate your patience and partnership as we work through those details and continue to improve.
Over the past year, our team has spent significant time studying state guidelines, requirements, and best practices, as well as looking at how other nearby districts structure their Pre-K programs. The model we are implementing is consistent with what is commonly done across the state and is designed to provide a high-quality early learning experience.
While we did not receive ABC funding this year due to limited availability for new startup programs, which would have allowed all spots to be income-based, we are offering a tuition-based model that is also widely used across Arkansas. At the same time, we are exploring ways to support families with demonstrated need by offering a limited number of reduced-cost or supported slots funded locally by the district.
We’re proud to take this step forward for our students and community. Thank you for your patience, trust, and support as we build this program together.
