Personnel Policies Overview

Personnel policies are the rules and guidelines that outline expectations, responsibilities, benefits, and working conditions for school district employees. In public school systems, employees are typically categorized into two groups: certified and classified. Certified staff are those who hold a professional license from the state, such as teachers, counselors, and administrators. Classified staff are support personnel who do not require a teaching license, including roles such as bus drivers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and office staff. Each group has its own set of policies tailored to the nature of their work.

Our district, like other Arkansas districts, subscribes to the Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) Model Policies, which are developed in accordance with Arkansas laws and updated annually to reflect any changes or new requirements. Staff are expected to be familiar with the contents of their respective policies, as understanding and following these guidelines is essential to their roles. If you have questions, always start with your supervisor, and our Human Resources department can assist with additional inquiries. Click here for our HR page. You can find both sets of personnel policies below, along with salary schedules and a helpful set of FAQs to answer common questions.

The FAQ section below provides general guidance, but it does not replace the official personnel policies. In the case of any discrepancies, the personnel policies are the official documents that guide decisions. For specific questions or clarification, please contact your supervisor or our Human Resources department. It’s important to be familiar with the policies that apply to your role.
