Gentry JV and Varsity Has a Crushing Defeat by Siloam Springs High School
The Gentry Pioneers boys soccer team played against Siloam Springs High School on February 29th. The JV team lost 3-0, and the varsity team lost 7-0. Two crushing games, but the teams are sure to bounce back!
Head coach Kong Lee stated, “The team is improving, but we have a young group, and learning to play together is hard. I want to point out Jayden Knox (10), a player I think can become a Captain and lead the team. And also, wins will come as the team learns from their mistakes.”
He also wanted to point out two other players who stood out in this game, which were David Lopez (9) and Angelo Lavi (11). Lopez learned a new spot as a defender and can hold his own because of his aggressiveness and speed. Angelo also was on point this game being able to hold his own as a right back. Coach Lee explained that the team’s weaknesses are not holding formation and not having enough discipline to play their spots.
Freshman Cha Lee said, “I know we could’ve done better, and we will.”
Sophomore Ace Xiong added, “This game was very bad for us, but we lose some or win some, and we will bounce back from this loss.”
Overall, the boys put up a tough fight. The next game happened on March 1st against Miami High School.
