Exploring Careers: GMS Goes Job Shadowing
Recently, the students of Gentry Middle School had the incredible opportunity to step into the shoes of professionals in various fields through job shadowing! With their curiosity, these ambitious 7th and 8th graders explored dental offices, veterinary offices, salons, teacher’s classrooms and anywhere else they were allowed!
Seventh and eighth graders in the career development class could participate in job shadowing. This hands-on experience allowed them to see a typical day in their chosen career. It was a fantastic way to learn and gain insights about different professions.
Job shadowing can be a game changer for students. It helps them make more informed decisions about their future. Students need to explore different options; it’s all part of the journey to finding their passion.
“Students have gone job shadowing before and discovered the career they were interested in was not for them,” said Ms. Christie Smith.
Around 80 seventh and eighth graders at GMS took part in this exciting opportunity. Seeing so many students eager to learn and discover their interests is amazing. Thanks to Ms. Smith’s career development class, students were given this wonderful opportunity.
