Lady Pioneers Soccer Take A Loss from Decatur
On Friday, April 19, the Lady Pioneer soccer team traveled away to Decatur to play. The Lady Pioneers played hard to win this game but unfortunately, they lost with the score of 1-0.
This was a game that was definitely unexpected for the Lady Pioneers. Last season, the Lady Pioneers were defeated by the Lady Bulldogs with a score of 3-2. They all had hope of winning this game because they thought that they had improved since last season. During this game, senior Maya Robinson played in goal for the first time this season. Robinson did an amazing job blocking many shots from the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Pioneers kicked off with amazing offense, leading them to a great start to the game. The girls played their hardest during the game and took many wonderful shots from out wide. The second half of the game looked rough for the Lady Pioneers. There was a lot of pushing and shoving coming from the Lady Bulldogs, but that didn’t stop the Lady Pioneers from playing their best.
Freshman Lille Toscano was a key player during the game. Toscano gave it her all playing as a starting forward and really wanted this win. Towards the end of the game, the Lady Bulldogs scored a goal. Unfortunately, the game ended in a loss for the Lady Pioneers. Even though they took home the loss, their effort was there throughout the whole game.
The Lady Pioneers will be traveling away to play against Prairie Grove today, April 24. This game determines if the girls make it to state or not, so it will be a great game to watch.
Goalkeeper freshman Madison Limson said she is “nervous” to play this game because “This game means a lot to me and my team, and I just hope to play the best I have ever played during this season. Knowing this may be the last game of the season makes me really sad, but I strongly believe that we will take home a win today.”
This could be the Lady Pioneers’ last game of their season, so come and cheer on our Lady Pioneers at the Prairie Grove football fields!
