Around the Rim
The Prairie Grove Tigers traveled to Gentry on January 11th to take on the senior high Lady Pioneers. It was a hard fought game until the end. By the end of the half, the Lady Pioneers were trailing by 6, leaving the score 21-15 as they headed to the locker room. Gentry came out of halftime ready to play and got the score back up only trailing by two at the end of the third. The Pioneers kept the tempo and fought hard to try and win the game. Sadly, Gentry fell short in the last seconds of the game, losing to the Lady Tigers 46-44.
When asked about the game sophomore Kya DeZurik said, “It really was a very good game. We played the best defense we have all year. The loss stung but it brought us together. Now we know what we have to do to get where we want to be.”
The Lady Pioneers headed to Lincoln later that week on the 15th of January to play the Lady Wolves. Gentry came to play, keeping the score within a tight reach the first half. The score was 21-18 at halftime with Lincoln leading. The Lady Pioneers made a comeback, taking the lead in the third quarter. They continued to push their lead, ending the game 10 points ahead. Gentry was able to get the “W” with the ending score being 46-36.
Senior Abigail Wilmoth said this about the game, “I’d say that we have always been a second half team and it really showed in that game! We came together and did anything we could for the win.” The team’s next game will be against Gravette.
