🚍 Flashing Red. Kids Ahead. — Bus Safety Reminder 🛑
As the school year starts, Arkansas motorists are reminded of a critical safety rule:
According to Arkansas law, it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus whenever its red lights are flashing, meaning children are boarding or exiting the bus.
📋 What Every Driver Should Know:
You must stop in both directions on 2‑lane roads and 4‑lane highways with or without a center turn lane, unless there's a median 20 feet or wider.
Outstanding penalties under Arkansas’ Isaac’s Law can include fines up to $1,000 or more, plus potential jail time—highlighting how serious this violation is .
👫 What Students & Pedestrians Should Do:
Be visible and alert near bus stops and crosswalks.
Stay clear of the road until the bus has pulled away.
Avoid distractions—keep phones down and eyes focused when walking.
🔁 Community Safety Is a Shared Responsibility
Every driver and pedestrian contributes to keeping our students safe. Let’s commit to obeying the law, being patient, and slowing down as a bus approaches or departs. Click the link below for traffic flow and drop-off/pick-up information:

Dear Gentry Families,
As we look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, we want to kindly remind you that the Bell-to-Bell No Cell Phone Policy will apply to all Gentry campuses this year—Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and High School. While we started early with this at the middle and high school levels last year, the policy is now required by state law and must be followed by all schools in Arkansas.
This means all Gentry students will now follow the same expectations: personal electronic devices—such as phones, smartwatches, and tablets—must be off and out of sight during the school day unless specifically allowed under the policy (such as in emergencies, for health accommodations, or district-issued devices for learning).
To help you review the details, including what’s allowed and how violations are handled, please visit our website to read the full policy:
https://www.gentrypioneers.com/page/bell-to-bell-no-cell-policyWe appreciate your support as we work to maintain a focused and safe learning environment for all students.
Warm regards,

This is a reminder that the school calendar has been updated to include April 18 and May 23 as makeup weather days. The six makeup days will now be April 18, May 23, and May 27-30, 2025, with the last day of school on May 30.

Dear Gentry Families,
At the board meeting earlier this evening, the board voted to accept a proposal to amend the current 2024-2025 school calendar, making April 18 and May 23 regular school days to serve as two of our makeup days. The six (6) total makeup days for the 2024-2025 school year are now set for April 18, May 23, and May 27-May 30, 2025, which will help us avoid extending the school year into June.
Additionally, the board approved an amendment to the 2025-2026 school calendar, embedding five inclement weather makeup days during the school year. These days will be January 19, February 20, April 17, May 26, and May 27, 2026. Any additional makeup days, if needed, will begin on May 28, 2026. Updated calendars will be added to our website soon.
These changes were made to prioritize student instruction and based on feedback from staff. If you have any conflicts with this year’s amendments due to previously arranged plans, don’t worry—just let the building administration know, and we will offer some flexibility to accommodate the changes.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Hello Gentry families,
As indicated in the original 2024-2025 calendar and confirmed by the survey results, makeup days will be held May 27-30 and June 2-3, 2025, with the 6th missed day being made up on June 3. Please note, attendance will count on these days, and instruction will be happening. It is important for students to attend and actively participate, as these are instructional days. Thank you for your understanding and support.
