Softball Girls Play A Great Couple of Games
The Gentry Pioneers softball girls played Farmington on April 9th, winning with a score of 7-2.
The girls were pumped to play this game, and many of them stood out. Junior Presley Ward, junior Cindy Barger, and junior Audrie Littlejohn all collected multiple hits. Littlejohn and Ward both hit their 5th HRs of the season. Senior Hailie Kreger threw the whole game and only surrendered 2 ERs.
Coach Teters was happy about how the girls have played this season. “It was a great win for us. We haven’t beaten Farmington since 2019. The win also clinched us a first-round bye in the district tourney and automatically qualifies us for Regionals. We pitched it well, played great defense, and got the bats rolling late in the game.”
The girls played again in a tournament against Fayetteville, Rogers Heritage, Houston Christian, and Rogers. The Lady Pioneers won against Fayetteville and Heritage but lost against Houston Christian and Rogers.
Teters had some thoughts on these games: “The girls played well overall in the Rogers tourney against some tough competition. We really think the schedule this year has prepared us for our conference schedule and the postseason. The girls have a lot of momentum going into the Pea Ridge game for the conference championship.”
Some girls he wanted to point out were freshman Callie Jordan and Kreger, who were “great in the circle for us and we had plenty of timely hitting.”
The girls played again against Prarie Grove on the 13th of April.
