Lady Pioneers Soccer Take 1 Win and 1 Loss
Last Friday on April 12, the Lady Pioneers soccer team traveled to the Farmington football fields to play a great game. The girls came in on fire and won with a score of 1-0.
This was a very fast and challenging game for the girls. During the first half of the game, the Lady Pioneers handled the ball well, and their defense players did a phenomenal job at defending their goal. In the middle of the first half, the Lady Pioneers finally scored a goal from the 30-yard line. This goal was made by freshman Rhyan Ruth, which was her second goal of the season. Since the Lady Pioneers won this game, it ranked them to be in 3rd place. The top 4 teams in the 4A girls’ soccer conference automatically make it to state. So, the game ended on a very good note!
Sophomore Jazlyn Lor said, “I was very proud of the teamwork at Farmington. Everyone stepped up to their role and played as hard as they could. All the girls gave it their all, which led us to a victory.”
The Lady Pioneers also played against Dardanelle on Tuesday, April 16, and lost with a score of 4-1. This game was played here at the Gentry practice field and was also Senior Night for seniors Julia Withers, Maya Robinson, Destiny Reinhardt, and Madison Lenda.
This was a rough game for the Lady Pioneers. They had a positive mindset going into the game, but within the first couple minutes of the game, the Lady Lizards had scored their first goal. The Lady Pioneers did not let this get to them and kept pushing throughout the game. At the end of the first half, the Lady Lizards had gotten a foul from a handball, which led to the Lady Pioneers getting a free kick. Junior Morgan Polina took a great shot and finally made a goal for the Lady Pioneers. During the last half of the game, the Lady Lizards made 3 more goals by the end of the game. This ranked the Lady Pioneers from being in third to fourth place.
In all, the Lady Pioneers tried their best to win this game. They all put their best effort in and worked hard for this game. Their next game, which is today, April 19, is a makeup game against Decatur. Come and watch our Lady Pioneers play at the Decatur football fields!
