Attention Seniors Important Events!
Gentry High School seniors only have a few weeks left of their senior year. There are several important and fun events planned. Below you will see all the events sent out by Allen Cruz, senior class president.
Tuesday, April 23rd will be senior skip day. Plans are to go to TopGolf between 12 pm and 5 pm for $20 an hour. This is a walk-in event and seniors do not have to stay the whole time. Prices will depend on how long a person stays to golf. Seniors are responsible for their own tickets and transportation.
Saturday, April 27th is Mrs. Bond’s senior cookout. This cookout will be located at the First Baptist Church in Highfill at 4 pm. Dinner will be provided and it is recommended that seniors dress comfortably for cornhole, volleyball, and other fun games if they would like to participate. Seniors must sign up in Mrs. Bond’s room as soon as possible or send Mrs. Bond an email to get put on the list.
Monday, May 6th is Scholarship Night. This is located at Gentry High School and will begin at 6 pm. This is where seniors are awarded local scholarships as well as seniors who will attend other colleges. Students that will be recognized will be Addison Taylor, Alan Cruz, Briar Mayberry, Brooklyn Snyder, Brynn Cordeiro, Cary Tromp, Daniel Carrera, Dominic Bouyear, Dyllen Labitad, Emma Tevebaugh, Isaac Jessen, Jacob Brown, Jordan Trammell, Julia Withers, Kaitlyn Caswell, Kelsi Hollaway, Keira Digby, Kenzie Hill, Kylie Jo Caster, Leah Merworth, Madison Lenda, Mya Robinson, Natalie Beattie, Olivia Smith, Payge Deason, Reagan Amos, Riggs Harper, Reese Hester, Samuel Turnbow, Shelby Still, Tucker Hodges, Ty Turner, and Whitley Waldroop.
On Thursday, May 9th, seniors will be given awards in the auditorium in the morning (time is TBD). In the afternoon seniors can attend the Pioneer Picnic at the high school. Later that day donuts may be handed out by the senior class sponsors (TBD), the senior prank set up will happen after the Pioneer Picnic, and seniors can camp out in the high school parking lot when they are done.
Friday, May 10th is the seniors’ last day. The seniors will also throw a prank on the whole school this day as well. Seniors will attend the senior walk through. This is where seniors will walk through each school campus and go through the halls and wave to their former teachers as well as the students at each campus. and recognition at noon.
Monday, May 13th will be the Honors Banquet at 5:30 pm at the high school. Seniors who are considered Honors and High Honors will be invited on to the stage with one of their parents to receive their medallion that they will wear at graduation. Food and drinks will also be provided during the ceremony.
Wednesday, May 17th is senior graduation day. This will be held at John Brown University at 6:30 pm. Students, teachers, family, and friends are welcome to attend.
Principal Mr. Blanchard said, “The end of the year is an exciting time, especially for seniors! The events we have planned for them are ways we can celebrate the class of 2024 and their accomplishments! I encourage all to participate fully in these activities. It will make great memories and be more fun for everyone.”
Seniors there are several events coming up that are very important. Pay attention to the announcements and google classroom for any updates. Make the most of the few weeks left!
