“That was a solid game for our team performance we needed to rally the troops and succeed. We played very hard and actually had a player sacrifice his body for an out (Shout out to white shrek). We got a “dub” and completely dominated from start to finish,” junior Carlos Alvarez said.
Freshman Ayden Smartt baffled Lincoln, striking out six batters. Smartt allowed no earned runs, four hits, and no walks over six innings.
A three-run fourth inning helped bring Lincoln within two. An RBI single and a two-run error fueled Lincoln’s comeback.
The Gentry Pioneers tacked on another three runs in the sixth. Senior Dillon Matthews ignited the offense plating sophomore Tanner Christie.
The Pioneers went against Springdale Friday, April 15th at home. The Gentry Pioneers wound up on the wrong side of 14-1 score.
Four relief pitchers didn’t loosen their grasp on the win as they finished off the game for Springdale. Springdale never trailed after scoring seven runs in the second on an error and four singles.
“It was a non-conference game and gave us a chance to face a good team and get reps in for our conference games and the upcoming conference tournament,” Christie said.
The Pioneers face lots of weather this week postponing games.
