Gentry Takes Control of Home Meet
The senior high boy Pioneers hosted their home meet last Friday and did quite well finishing in second place. The senior high girls also had a great day, winning 1st by 40 points.
The Pioneers had good results all across the board. Sophomore Mason Clark finished with 8th place in the discus. Senior Jake Faulkenberry with a close 9th in the discus. Junior Cole Cripps won the pole vault with a jump of 14’4”, breaking his own personal record and the school record; he also finished first in the long jump, triple jump, and third in the high jump. Sophomore Doo Faulkenberry finished 7th place in the 300 hurdles for his first time ever doing it.
Doo Faulkenberry had this to say about his finish, “I happy with my 300 but not to happy with my discus. I know I can do better.”
Sophomore Chastery Fuamatu won first place in the shot put with a throw of 34’11” and also came in third place in the discus. Sophomore Hannah Boss finished 4th in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. Senior Lexie Clark won the pole vault and a close second right behind her was sophomore Kya DeZurik.
Boss said, “It was really successful for both the girls’ and guys’ teams and I think it’s a good foreshadowing for our conference meet in two weeks.”
