Lady Pioneers Lose To Pointers
Monday night, April 11, the Gentry soccer teams traveled to Van Buren to partake in yet another soccer game. The junior varsity girls’ team played at 4:00 p.m. and ended up falling to the Pointers by a score of 2-0.
The varsity girls game followed at 5:00 p.m. Although the Lady Pioneers fought hard against the 6A school, they ultimately could not pull out a victory. The varsity game finished with a final score of 4-0.
Despite the end result, the Pioneers were able to power through and make some key plays during the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Chastery Fuamatu had an epic save on a penalty kick early in the first half due to senior Brittney Atwood fouling an offensive opponent inside the 18-yard line.
Fuamatu claims that the penalty kick was just “One more stop along the way,” and is looking forward to their next game against Huntsville on April 18th, 2016.
