Lady Pioneer Soccer Is 3-0 In Conference Play
On Tuesday night, April 5th, the Gentry Lady Pioneer soccer team seized their third conference win against Eureka High School.
In the first half, senior Ana Linch scored two early goals against Eureka’s defensive line. Sophomore Haley Hays followed with the third goal, who was assisted by Linch.
After half-time, Borgeteien-James scored the fourth goal by driving a shot into the upper right corner of the net. After a Eureka defender accidentally scored on her own team, Linch contributed her third goal of the match, leading to yet another personal hat trick. (A hat trick is when an individual player scores at least 3 goals during a single game.)
The final score of the game resulted in a 6-0 win for Gentry. The Lady Pioneer’s next game is scheduled to be played on April 8th at Lead Hill’s home field at 5:30 p.m. It is strictly a junior varsity game and it will be followed by the varsity boys.
Junior Autumn McMurtrey, who is currently suffering from a shoulder injury, expresses her excitement about the win by saying, “I was really glad to see them play and grow as a team. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and can’t wait to get back out there with my teammates!”
