Track Competes at Gravette Lion Relays
The junior high and senior high track teams both traveled to Gravette last week for their own meets. The junior high team competed on Tuesday, March 29 and the senior high competed on Thursday, March 31.
Freshman Adrian Ramirez took control of the pole vault once again with a jump of 11’. Freshman Brett Jackson placed second in pole vault. Eighth grader Brandon Atwood and freshman Jamon Mathis went 1, 2 in the 110 hurdles.
The senior high track team finished their track meet winning runner-up overall. Junior Cole Cripps handled pole vault once again with a jump of 13’6”. Senior Bryan Harris took care of the 110 hurdles getting second. Sophomore Doo Faulkenberry got 3rd in the high jump.
Faulkenberry said, “I am happy with my performance but I am happier we got runner-up as a team.”
Also for the senior high team, sophomore Chastery Fuamatu won the shot put and automatically qualified for state with a throw off 33’ ¼”. Senior Mallory Morris got second in the 400 and won the 800 by 50 meters. The senior high girls team finished the meet in third place.
Both teams will continue their track season with their next meet being in Pea Ridge on Tuesday, April 5th for the junior high team and Thursday, April 7th for the senior high team.
