Lady Pioneers Continue Softball Season
The Lady Pioneer softball team traveled to Bentonville on Monday, March 14, to take on the Lady Tigers. Sadly, the Lady Pioneers got beat 15-0 at the bottom of the fourth inning.
Coach Lance Nations said the following about the game, “The outcome was not so hot, but the lesson to be taught in the most important. I hope our fans and parents can see what we, as a coaching staff, are trying to accomplish. We are not looking for the win record to be high. We are looking to see and play the best this state has to offer to prepare the team for conference; that is the only record that counts. Sometimes a good old-fashioned whooping is the best teaching tool you can give and in our current situation, I believe it did. We are going to keep our heads up because tomorrow is a new day.”
The Lady Pioneers traveled to Lincoln on Tuesday, March 15, to take on the Lady Wolves. Gentry had a good game against Lincoln. The first two innings against Lincoln, the Lady Pioneers allowed the Lady Wolves to get 7 runs. Gentry was not able to score until the fifth inning and when they did they scored 7 runs as well, leaving the score 7-7 at the bottom of the fifth. Neither team, Gentry or Lincoln, was able to get any runs in the sixth inning, which left the score still 7-7. The Lady Pioneers were not able to score in the seventh; however, the Lincoln Lady Wolves did. Sadly, the final score was Lincoln 8 and Gentry 7.
Junior Brooke Boston said this about the game, “We made good comeback. It just didn’t work out in the end. It is nothing to keep our heads down about.”
Next up for the Lady Pioneers is Elkins on Thursday, March 17.
