Swing Into the Season
The Lady Pioneer Softball team started their season by traveling to Rogers to play in a benefit game against the Rogers Heritage Lady War Eagles. This will be the first game for both teams; it will also be a benefit game.
The Lady Pioneers started off the game strong, not allowing the Lady War Eagles to score during the first inning. The second inning was a different story, the Pioneers made some big errors and allowed Heritage to score 4 points. The score at the end of the second inning was 4-0, the War Eagles.
The Lady Pioneers weren’t able to score until the fourth inning. Although by the fourth inning the War Eagles were able to run in some more points. Gentry got some runs on the board and were able to get a hold on Heritage. The Lady Pioneers weren’t able to come out with a win; however, the first game jitters are out of the way. The game ended 11-6, the Heritage War Eagles winning the game.
Coach Lance Nations said the following about the team’s first game, “The Lady Pioneers fell short 11-6 in the match up against the 7A Heritage War Eagles. We made a few critical mistakes that cost us runs, but overall we are proud of the team’s efforts. Nothing like game time experience to find out what we still need to work and improve on. Good job, ladies!”
The Lady Pioneers next game will be today at Springdale. Varsity will play at 5:00 and the JV game will follow.
