Practice, Practice, Practice
The soccer team finally has everyone to practice now since the season is in session. The team is looking great during this first week of practice. The Pioneers first game is tonight against the Rogers Heritage War Eagles. This year is an important one for the seniors Austin Fowler and Jared Rabb.
“It feels pretty good. I’m the only senior who has played the full 4 years of high school soccer. As a captain, I feel like we as a team will better ourselves if we work hard and stay in it. Hopefully this year we will make it to state. I know everyone is ready for the season to begin, but it’s up to us if we want to make it to state. I feel like we have a good team this year and an opportunity to better ourselves. It is a team sport, so it will take all of us to get there,” said defensive captain Austin Fowler.
“It is kind of sad because this is my last year being with a family that i have spent a lot of time with. It will be miss,” said senior captain Jared Rabb.
The Pioneers have lost some of their best defenders this year, but there have been a lot of teammates stepping up to the spot. The Pioneers been working hard this week conditioning and working as a team. There are still some little bumps to overcome before the first game of conference which will be against the Dardanelle Sand Lizards on March 18th.
“I feel pretty good about our team this year. We have quite a bit of experience coming back along with a few new players that i can contribute this season. Our numbers are a little down this year, but i think if we can stay healthy we should have a good chance to make a decent run in the conference this season. My expectations for this team this year is to go out and compete with every team and push to take the next step and get to the state tournament. Go Pioneers!” said coach Jordan Parton.
