Audra Weathers: Singing Her Way into the Spotlight!
The Pioneer Press is going to begin a new article where we spotlight one of the many interesting and talented students that we have at Gentry High School. The interesting student for this week is the amazing Audra Weathers, whose full name is Audra Madison Weathers.
Weathers is 16-years-old and is in the 11th grade. She has brown hair and moved to Gentry from Tennessee 13 years ago. She has been attending Gentry Schools since kindergarten. Weathers lives on a chicken farm out in the country with her family.
According to her, she can juggle 3 elephants and is addicted to the game Agario. She has a chihuahua that is deaf named Obi Wan Kenobi and a lot of chickens.
Weathers had the awesome experience of trying out for The Voice and also American Idol. She said that her experience with The Voice was really good and a lot of fun. She said that it came down to her and a 15-year-old girl and the 15-year-old girl ended up making it.
Her experience with American Idol was quite different from The Voice. She said that it was very tiring. She got to the arena at around 4:20 am and didn’t get to sing until 12:30 pm.
Weathers learned a lot from these experiences. She said, “I learned to never give up. Rejection is a slap in the face; I know that more than anyone. Every time I am rejected, that is one step closer to success.”
Some other interesting advice from Weathers is, “Follow your ambitions, not your dreams. I had a dream once that I was a lamp, and I prefer not to follow that particular dream.”
