Upcoming Season for Pioneers
The Gentry Pioneer track team is getting ready for their upcoming meets and new season. There is a new record of 75-80 kids on the total Gentry Track team. The teams are doing all sorts of running, conditioning, and practicing that they can do to get ready for their upcoming season. When asked if he was ready for the new season returning Senior Brian Harris responded with, “I am very excited and I’m ready to see what this season has in store for us.”
The teams decided for a fundraiser they wanted to get sponsors and try to beat the world record in the marathon.”I am not to excited to be running this much but it’ll pay off for the team in the end,” said Freshman Brett Jackson. Each member of the track team will have to run a 400 and some may have to run two or even three of them. It is figured out that if one sponsor will give the kid one dollar, the end payout, if we complete it and beat it, will be $52 dollars from that one sponsor. The idea is if every kid can get at least one dollar’s worth of sponsors, all of the needs of the track team will be taken care of and the upcoming State Champions, won’t have to pay for their rings.
If you would like to help out, find any track member and they will tell you more about it.
