The Bowling Teams Take 3rd in Conference
Last Thursday the girls’ and boys’ bowling teams went to conference in Fort Smith. They bowled a total of three games and came up with impressingly high scores. Both of the girls and boys ended up in third place. The girls bowled a total score of 2296 and the boys bowled a total score of 2944.
Seniors Tori Vetor and Carol Williams made it in the top 10 of the whole conference. Vetor got 8th place with the score of 456 and Williams got 9th place with the score of 440.
The top three bowlers within Gentry were Vetor, Williams, and senior Sabra Philpott, who bowled a 388.
Vetor had this to say about conference, “I did pretty well, but I felt like the entire day was a struggle for us as a team. We pulled it out in the end though.”
Senior Wyatt Clark was number 2 in the whole conference. The top 3 bowlers within Gentry were Clark, senior Jake Faulkenberry, and senior Andrew Foley. Clark bowled a 645, Faulkenberry bowled 508, and Foley 465.
Faulkenberry said, “It didn’t go the way we wanted it to; none of us bowled the best we could have, and in the end we didn’t finish where we wanted to. But it was a fun trip and one that I can always remember.”
The team bowled in the state tournament Wednesday, February 17.
