Pioneers Roll Past the Lions
The Gentry Pioneers played their last home game for the year and the last home game forever for the seniors last Friday night. The Pioneers hosted the Gravette Lions for their last game of the regular season. Unfortunately, senior Jake Faulkenberry missed his last home game due to a sickness.
Senior Wyatt Clark responded, “I feel like it faced us with adversity and we overcame it and played like we knew how to.”
The Pioneers went out with a bang against the Lions winning 59-46. The Pioneers had the lead for the majority of the game and pulled away early in the fourth. This sealed the deal for the Pioneers with the third seed and third place finish in district. I was told from an inside source that after the game, the Pioneers’ locker room was “Lit.”
Games between these two schools are always heated, and the issues began before the game even started. Before tipoff it seems that the Lions vandalized the Pioneers’ visitors’ locker room. There were signs that were broken, locks that were smashed, and doors that were broken into.
The Pioneers will continue their season Wednesday night at 8:30 pm in the district tournament in Prairie Grove when they face the Shiloh Christian Saints.
