Bowling Team Getting Ready to Take State
The boys’ and girls’ bowling teams have competed at a high level and are both on pace to make the state tournament for the 3rd year in a row. coach Ledbetter had this to say about the season they have had so far, “I am very proud of both teams, and I think once we get everything together, we will be fine. I think that both teams can not only make the state tournament this year, but should do really well while they are there.”
On the boys’ team seniors Andrew Foley and Wyatt Clark lead their teammates while several of the younger boys are getting better each day. For the girls’ team, Lexi West and Carol Williams anchor the team with a very senior-driven support class.
Foley said, “This year is going great so far! Fun is what it’s all about and we are having plenty of that. We really don’t know how we perform to our full potential until conference and state.”
Clark added, “My senior year of bowling has been a very enjoyable experience. I could not have asked for a better team my last year. It will definitely be one to remember!”
The bowling team played Lincoln on January 21st. They defeated the wolves by 56 pins. The boys final score was 2,054. While Lincoln trailed behind with the score of 1998. The three top scorers for the game were Clark, sophomore Daniel Thao, and Foley. Clark scored 228, Thao scored 174, and Foley scored 163.
The Gentry girls defeated Lincoln by 325 pins. The girls final score was 1578 and Lincoln’s score was 1253. The high scorers for Gentry were senior Tori Vetor, Williams, freshman Billi Taylor, and senior Kendall Baker. Vetor scored 138, Williams 135, Taylor 124, and Baker 123.
