Pioneers take on the Blackhawks
The Pioneers restarted conference play with a game against the number one team, the Pea Ridge Blackhawks. The previous meeting for these two teams ended with Gentry on top by ten. “We played well and shot the ball great against them our first game. We just didn’t hit all the shots that we needed to the second time around,” said junior Evan Folker. The Blackhawks were out for revenge knowing it wouldn’t be easy. The Blackhawks got what they needed to claim first place in the conference.
The Pioneers started out slow and were down 20-10 at the end of the first half. The Pioneers fought back from the largest deficit of the game being 15 but in the end it wasn’t enough, losing 46-41. Coach Price had this to say about the game, “I was very proud of our kids for fighting back the way they did, it just wasn’t enough in the end.”
