Chapter #8400

District I

CHAPTER ACTIVITIES

Fall Leadership Conference

We attended the District I Fall Leadership Conference in Fort Smith. FBLA members were spellbound by the guest speaker who was a survivor of the Sept. 11th attack on the World Trade Center.  Just hearing about his experiences left the crowd speechless.

Field Trip

We took a field trip to visit Wal-Mart Home Offices in Bentonville, Arkansas and visited The Benton County Jail. We toured the Home Offices and learned more about "the inner workings" of Wal-Mart. After our lunch at Jose's, we visited The Benton County Jail where we toured the facilities and learned about the business side of correctional facilities.

Bowl-A-Thon

Just to prove that you can still have fun while helping people in need, we went bowling. A local bowling alley hosted a Bowl-A-Thon and the entry fees, $100 per team, went to help the victims of the Sept. 11th attack. FBLA entered two teams and created our own t-shirts, as seen below.

2nd Annual GHS Chili Cook-Off

FBLA, in cooperation with the other Vocational Student Organizations at GHS, hosts the Annual GHS Chili Cook-Off.  This competition is the highlight of Vocational Student Organization Week. The entry fees and donations were given to the Gentry Public Library to promote literacy. The Gentry community is in the process of raising the necessary funds for a new facility. FBLA participated by entering a team of their own.  For more information on the chili cook-off click here. Below pictured is the winning teams, go figure!

District I Spring Leadership Conference

The 2002 FBLA Spring Leadership Conference was held in Fort Smith at the newly completed Holiday Inn Convention Center. Due to bad weather, the conference was rescheduled for March 6, 2002. Richard Grimes, Nathan Thrapp, Matt Showalter, Tim Foreman, Lindsey Wilson, Christina Stichka, Blake Sutter, and Ryan Mengal adjusted their schedules for the new conference date. Blake Sutter and Tim Foreman competed in Desktop Publishing and Ryan Mengal was our voting delegate.
