Tips:
Ink Cartridges
1. Make sure that you have both
ink cartridges in their designated slots. Even if you do not intend on
printing in color, most printers require that you have the color cartridge in
its slot for the printer to function correctly.
2. If you are unsure what type of ink cartridge to get to replace the empty ones, then you can search for the number at www.hp.com by going to accessories and finding your printer model. An alternative is to simply ask someone in the computer department at a office supply store. It will cost you about $25 to replace the black cartridge.
Smearing
If your printouts are smearing then it is probably a good time to
clean the silver bar that the ink cartridges run on. Lift the cover and
wipe the bar with a soft tissue. This could help resolve your
problem. It is good idea to keep your printer free of dust and ink
buildup.
