WINTER INFO...
If it becomes necessary to close school due to ice or snow, the Gentry School District will implement the Pioneer Alert Notification System. This system will place an automated phone call to parents. It is important that you keep the office updated on telephone number changes. Local TV and radio stations will also be notified and an announcement will be broadcast. This information will also be available on the school website.
Please discuss in advance with your children what you expect them to do if school has to be released early due to inclement weather or any other unexpected reason. Please let the teacher & office personnel know your Inclement Weather Early Release Plan also.
Students will have outside recess if the wind chill is 32 degrees or above and there is no falling precipitation. Please dress your children accordingly!
The Transportation Department has developed SNOW ROUTES in the event that major roads are clear but back roads are still slick. By adjusting bus routes, we could still have school. That information is available on the Transportation page on the school's website.

Please remember that...
Tardies & Early Check-Outs interrupt instruction time. Your child should arrive at school in time for him/her to get to the classroom and be seated by 8:00 a.m. Students should stay in class until school is dismissed at 3:00 p.m. It is important that all students get to school on time and stay for the entire day.
Please arrange visits with your child's teacher through e-mail or the office so that the teacher can set aside a time that won't interrupt instruction time. Thanks for your cooperation.
If your child is absent, please notify the school by calling the office at 479-736-2380 or sending a note with your child upon his/her return to school. If your child sees a doctor, dentist or other health care provider, please get a note for your child's file.
Cell phones are not allowed at school. This applies to non-working as well as working cell phones. The phones will be confiscated if students bring them to school.
Arkansas State Law prohibits the use of handheld cell phones while driving in school zones during school hours OR while children are present.
