Ms. Yates received her B.A. Degree in Music Education
K-12 (Vocal Emphasis) from
Harding
University
in
Searcy
,
AR.
She received her Masters Degree
in Choral Conducting from
Ithaca
College
, in
Ithaca
,
New York
. She is in her 26th year of
teaching and has taught in
Allen
,
Texas
and Bentonville,
Fayetteville
and Gentry Arkansas. Choirs
under her direction have performed at the AR All-State Convention, two
Southwest Regional American Choral Directors Association conventions and one
National ACDA convention as well as at Carnegie Hall in
New York City
. She was chosen as
Arkansas
’ Junior High Choral Director of the year.
She is extremely proud of
the choir student’s hard work, aiming high and that
under her direction the Gentry choirs made State for the first time in their
history. The choirs have now
gone to state four times! Way to
Go Pioneer Choirs!! She
loves working with her choir students, singing in area summer musicals and
being with her cat Allegra.
